Kaptai Lake

Kaptai Dam and the lake are the main attractions of Kaptai. If one can't visiting Kaptai separately then one should not  forget to go for a boating up to Kaptai on the Kaptai Lake. Rangamati is also connected by waterway from Kaptai.

This is the only place to visit through out the year. Rangamati expresses her full beauty in rainy season. Trees becoming greener, waterfalls are in full tide, the river Karnaphuli in her full wave in the rainy season.

Rangamati possesses a big portion of natural beauties of Bangladesh. From Chittagong a 77 km. road amidst green fields and winding hills will take one to Rangamati. It is also connected by waterway from Kaptai. 

This is the only place to visit through out the year. Rangamati expresses her full beauty in rainy season. Trees becoming greener, waterfalls are in full tide, the river Karnaphuli in her full wave in this season.

Parjatan holiday complex is the best place to stay in Rangamati. There are other hotels in Rangamati where one can stay. Boating is the prime attraction in Rangamati. One can go to Kaptai and also by Karnaphuli River one can go deep in side the hill areas where on the way you will find lots of natural waterfalls.  By boat one can visit the tribal villages, King Chakma's (tribal) Palace that is called Chakma Rajbari, Rajbonbihar pagoda, Tribal museum etc. One can also enjoy the tribal handmaid crafts if one go for shopping in the local market.

Sopnopuri-Artificial Tourist Spot


Shopnopuri is one of the most beautiful artificial tourist spot in North Bengal. One can go there either from Hili or from Dinajpur. There one can enjoy one’s full day watching this artificial beauty. One can spend night also In Shopnopuri rest house but for that you will have to book in advance. It is an idle Picnic spot also where lots of picnic parties come every year.

Srimongol Tea Garden

Srimongal is the place of tea gardens, hills and forest areas on the hills. It is famous for the largest tea gardens of world covered by lush green carpet. One can have a look into the spectacular tea processing at Tea Research Institute. Bangladesh produces and exports a large quantity of high quality tea every year. Most of the tea estates are in Srimongal. It is called "The land of two leaves and a bud".
It is also called camellia, green carpet or Tea Mountain. There are a lot of tea estates including the largest one in the world. It is known as the tea capital in Bangladesh.

Sundarban

Sundarban is the world biggest mangrove forest. The area of great Sundarban is approximately 6000 sq. km. A large number of foreigners come to Bangladesh every year only to visit this unique mangrove forest.

It's beauty lies in its unique natural surrounding. Thousands of meandering streams, creeks, rivers and estuaries have enhanced its charm. Sundarban meaning beautiful forest is the natural habitat of the world famous Royal Bengal Tiger, spotted deer, crocodiles, jungle fowl, wild boar, lizards, theses monkey and an innumerable variety of beautiful birds. Migratory flock of Siberian ducks flying over thousands of sail boats loaded with timber, golpatta (round-leaf), fuel wood, honey, shell and fish further add to the serene natural beauty of the Sundarban.

Means of Communication:

Famous Spots:
The main tourist spots in Sundarban are Karamjol, Katka, Kochikhali, Hiron point and Mandarbaria.
  • Hiron Point (Nilkamal) for tiger, deer, monkey, crocodiles, birds and natural beauty.
  • Katka for deer, tiger, crocodiles, varieties of birds and monkey, morning and evening symphony of wild fowls. 
  • Vast expanse of grassy meadows running from Katka to Kachikhali (Tiger Point) provides opportunities for wild tracking.
  • Tin Kona Island for tiger and deer.
  • Dublar Char (Island) for fishermen. It is a beautiful island where herds of spotted deer are often seen to graze.
  • There are also two other Heritage side in Sundarban; one is Kochikhali and the other is Mandarbaria. 
Entry Permission:   Prior permission must be obtained through written application from the Divisional Forest Office, Circuit House Road, Khulna (Phone 20665, 211731) to visit the Sundarban. Required entrance fees for visitors, vessel or boat payable at the relevant forest station/range office.

Guided Tours:  Tour operators offers all-inclusive guided package from Dhaka to Sundarban and return during the tourist season. . 

Climate:   Climate in the Sundarban is moderate. Air is humid. Full monsoon is from June to September.

Tourist season & Shooting:  Best time to visit the Sundarban is from November to March. Hunting is prohibited by law in the country for the preservation of wildlife. 
  
N.B:   Special notes to the tourist to remember again - do not go in side of the forest without your guide and proper securities while your are in Sundarban.







Kuakata

Kuakata, is locally known as Sagar Kannya (Daughter of Sea) is the rare scenic beauty spot on the southernmost tip of Bangladesh. Kuakata in Latachapli union under Kalapara police station of Potuakhali district is about 30 km in length and 6 km in breadth. It is 320 km from Dhaka city.

At Kuakata excellent combination of the picturesque natural beauty, sandy beach, blue sky, huge expanse of water of the Bay is really eye-catching. From its seashore one can watch both sunrise and sunset. The coconut trees increase the scenic beauty of this seashore.

The main tourist season is in winter but all over the year tourists visit this place. In Kuakata one can visit-
  • the life style of tribe Rakhains, 
  • Buddhist Temple where one can see two wells of 200 years old, 
  • Fisherman village where one can visit and watch the lifestyle of the Fisherman,
  • traditional fairs are held here on two days-'Rush Purnima' and 'Maghi Purnima' 
  • a part of the great Sundarban forest, which is called Gangamoti Reserve Forest, 
  • Fatra’s Chor another tourist place nearby Kuakata. 
Means of Communication:    One may travel by road or water to Kuakata or Patuakhali.
  • From Dhaka one can go to Patuakhali by bus & from there by microbus to Kuakata. 
  • One can go to Khepupara by launch, and from there go to Kuakata by microbus. 
  • BRTC bus service is available from Dhaka to Kuakata via Barisal. 
Accommodation:   There are some hotel and motels in Kuakata where one can stay, but Holiday Homes is the best place to stay in Kuakata. It is a motel of Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation and its better if someone confirm his/her booking from Dhaka in advance



Cox's Bazar

Cox's Bazar is one of the most attractive tourist spots and the longest sea beach in the world (approx. 120 km long). Miles of golden sands, towering cliffs, surfing waves, rare conch shells, colorful pagodas, Buddhist temples and tribes, delightful seafood-this is Cox's Bazar, the tourist capital of Bangladesh. The beauty of the setting-sun behind the waves of the sea is simply captivating. Locally made cigars and hand loom products of the tribal Rakhyne families are good buys.

The Inani beach is found about 32 km south of the town where golden sand goes on for about 100 miles unbroken! The bay of Bengal in front of eyes, one standing on golden sand and steep hills before one's eyes if he/she turn around.  
There is small fountain that comes down the hills in walking distance. This place is much less crowded and ideal for sea baths and perhaps a picnic.

Cox’s Bazar is nearly 150 km away from the port district Chittagong.

  • Cox’s Bazar can be reached by bus, train or air (Dhaka-Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar).
  • Good hotels, restaurants and resorts are available near sea beach.(e.g., Seagull Hotel, Sea Crown Hotel, Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation, Mermaid Eco-Resort).

St. Martin's Island

St.Martin's Island is a small island in the northeast part of the Bay  of Bengal, about 9 km south of the tip of Cox's Bazar- Teknaf peninsula and forming the southernmost part of Bangladesh. It is the only coral island in Bangladesh. It is about 8 km west of the northwest coast of Myanmar at the mouth of the Naf River. There are beautiful Coral reef and long coral beach and lots of coconut trees in this island. The local name of the coconut is Narikel and the original name of this island is Narikel Jinjira is derived from that.

It’s possible to walk around the island in a day because it measures only 8 sq km (3 sq miles), shrinking to about 5 sq km (2 sq miles) during high tide. Most of island’s 5500 inhabitants live primarily from fishing and between October and April fisher people from neighboring areas bring their catch to the island’s temporary wholesale market.

Cheera-dwip is a part of St. Martins Island but divided during tides. One can go to Cheera-dwip by walking. About two and a half hours walk from St. Martin's Island or one can go there also by local motorboat or tourist boat. In that Island the Corals - living and dead are found all over the Island. A small bush is there which in the only green part of Cheera-dwip, enhancing the beauty of this island. People do not live in this Island, so advisable for the tourists to go there early and come back by afternoon.

Communication:
Saint Martin's can be reached by Sea Truck (KEARI SINDBAD has service from Teknaf to Saint Martin Island). Teknaf can be reached from Dhaka by Bus (Green Line Paribahan, Shohagh Paribahan etc.), Train (Suborna, Mohanagar and Godhuli) or Air (GMG Airlines) [Dhaka-Chittagong-Teknaf]. 

Accommodation:
Motel Nijhum is one of the best hotels in St. Martin's Island. The other good hotels are Prashad Paradise & Sraboni Bilash. All these three hotels are situated adjacent to Seashore. Also Bangladesh Parjatan corporation has restaurant and resort in this island.

Madhabkunda waterfall is one of the most attractive tourist spots in Sylhet division. Lots of tourists and picnic parties come to Madhabkunda every day for their enjoyment. 

The journey to Madhabkunda itself is exotic. On the way one can see the greenish beauty of tea garden, the hills and the zigzag road through the hills will increase the joy of your journey. In Madhabkunda one can see the great waterfall – falls of million tons of water form 200ft height. Big bolder of stones and the black stones in giving a shape of care in Madhabkunda. There is a Parjatan Motel with a good restaurant for accommodation and food.   

There is also a district council Bunglow for night stay. Here one can enjoy adventurous feelings to stay in a jungle. All one need to have a prior booking for the Bunglow from Moulvibazar Zilla Parishad office.
